HYDRA Swimming Names New Head Coach – Kris Bell

HYDRA Swimming leadership will change this August. Kris Bell, an accomplished swim coach from Canada, will be the Head Coach and start full time duties at the start of the 2025-2026 season.  We are hoping to get Kris to Doha for a visit before the end of this year and will set up group meetings for coaches, swimmers and parents to meet the new coach and ask questions.

We are looking forward to Kris coming. Here is a short bio to introduce him to the team:

I was born and raised in Toronto and have been lucky to build a career that’s taken me across Canada, coaching at all levels—from Age Group to Head Coach to Varsity. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of working with incredible athletes and staff, helping develop swimmers from their first strokes to international competitions. I’ve also been honored to serve on staff for several provincial and national teams, sharing in the excitement of high-performance swimming on the big stage.

Beyond the pool, I’m a husband of 20 years and a proud father of two. Our son is heading to university in the fall to study aviation and commerce, while our daughter is entering her final terms of high school. Family and coaching have been the two biggest constants in my life, and I’m grateful for both every day. In my spare time, I enjoy movies and am an avid cyclist with a love for all food, especially desserts.
At the heart of it all, I love what I do—helping athletes and coaches push their limits, build confidence, and achieve things they never thought possible.
